Built in the heart of Nicaragua by local craftsman The Beanbag Hammock Company is more than just your average hammock company.  A modern take on pre-Columbian comfort, also known as the most comfortable hammock in the world.

Just as the origins of the hammock can be traced to Central America, the Bean Bag Hammock's roots are planted deeply in Nicaragua. Local craftsmen sew their heart and soul into each hammock that leaves the shop, taking pride in their handiwork and your enjoyment of it.

Our materials are sourced in local Nicaraguan markets and stores, hand chosen for quality and consistency. The knots are hand tied and each hammock is 3-person tested to ensure durability.

Each purchase not only supports jobs in the burgeoning Nicaraguan economy but also a percentage of profits are donated to Winds of Change, an organization dedicated to the development of Nicaraguan farming communities.

The Bean Bag Hammock is more than your average hammock.

Let us show you why we say it is the most comfortable hammock in the world!

Our Tailors and Hammock Specialists

Our hammock sewing team is made up of Jairo, his adult son Hamilton and the reformed street kids who have since grown up under Jairo's wing.

Jairo is a master tailor, specializing in suits and formal wear. He learned the trade after a good-hearted mentor picked him up off the street as a kid and taught him how to measure, cut and stitch. Jairo in turn pays it forward by taking misguided youth from the barrio and giving them an honest alternative.

Hamilton is the hammock specialist and leads the team. He has worked with us from the start, learning and growing with each prototype and new version. Hamilton loves his work, especially being able to problem solve the creation of new models and of course testing them when complete.

Our humble beginnings.  This is where our tailors work and have produced our early models of the beanbag hammock.  Longer term we hope to upgrade to a new location, provide new machinery and employ many more locals to become part of our growing family.
